CASTIGAT RIDENDO MORES.

CASTIGAT RIDENDO MORES.

Artists should be free to enjoy the rewarding and necessary role of uplifting society. However, we are also burdened with speaking truth. We use song and image to express not just fact- but reality via artifice.
As artists we can bypass the pitfalls of rhetorical debate, and the often ridiculous demands of mathematical proof for that which is self evident. It is by that vehicle that incorrect morals are wheeled like a trojan horse into the walls of society.
Artists. Draw your rage. Sing your rage. Write your rage. We do not have the privileged of being spectators at our own funeral.
We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;—
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems. - Arthur O'Shaughnessy
